For Activision’s second installment of the Kinect video game based on ABC’s hit primetime show, we cast a former Wipeout contestant to tell his traumatic story.

We also gave him another shot at the $50,000 he didn't win on the show

To promote light, cushy K-SWISS Lady Tubes, we teamed up scariest trainer alive, Jillian Michaels, with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson in The Killer Body Beatdown—10 days of content inspiring women to get off their computer chairs, get Tubes and get training. In that order.

<description>KWFC? is a salty-languaged project where I discuss how insane the most prosaic things in culture and life really are. It's equal parts analysis, philosophy and entertainment (analphilotainment).

Since its launch in mid-2011, the site's been featured on HuffPo Comedy, Dooby Brain and The Daily What, was Dazed Digital's Tumblr of the Week, and was one of Digiday's Best Agency Creatives' Tumblrs. It's gotten over 165,000 unique visitors and more than 4,500 Tumblr followers.

And for the first time in my life, I've received fan mail.

That's pretty f#%*ing crazy.

The Wheel of Awesome is the centerpiece of the Carl's Jr./Hardee's Facebook communities and the Happy Star Rewards Mobile app. It was designed to be an entertaining experience to perpetuate ongoing participation and loyalty amongst our fans, as well as be an incentive for community growth.

Loosely translated, that means it's super cool and addictive.

In 9 months, we grew fans for the brands from a combined 100,000 to 1.1 million, and Carl's Jr./Hardee's were rated amongst the top five most explosive Facebook sites in 2010.

Do your brain a favor and click below to see it in the flesh (and the flash).

<description>In 2010, my brother, Eric, left his cushy mechanical engineering job at a nuclear submarine contractor to pursue his dream of becoming an entrepreneur (what an iiiiidiot!). A year later, with me as his marketing chief and our family cat, Tiger, as interim-CFO, we launched Bedphones, the headphones designed for sleep, along with an accompanying smartphone app.

In the 3 weeks after launch alone, with $0 spent in media, Bedphones got write-ups on more than 30 sites, including Mashable, Wired, Engadget, MSNBC, Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Rolling Stone. Within 6 months, they were featured on The Dr. Oz Show and ABC's Good Morning America, also without purchased media.

My first year Brandcenter portfolio class professor, Cabel Harris, gave us a chart for judging work. It was originally given to him by Ty Montague, and covered 10 levels of standard (01-10). My partner and I decided this was not comprehensive enough.

So we made some additions on both ends.

Happy Star Rewards is the first iPhone/Android loyalty rewards program for a fast food restaurant. When app users check-in at a Carls Jr./Hardee's, they're rewarded with a spin on The Wheel of Awesome, our state-of-the-art, rewards-distributing digital-machine thing.

The app hit #5 on iTunes at one point, topping app store behemoths like Google Places, Groupon, Shazam and Facebook. Suck it, status quo.

Fast food sister brands, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's needed Facebook fans. Fast.

So we did what anyone would do. We hosted The 73rd Annual Carl's Jr./Hardee's 24-hour Fan-Raiser Telethon Variety Show on the YouTube homepage masthead.

One lady called it "the stupidest thing on the entire Internet."

The event exceeded all expectations, pulling in nearly 40,000 new fans in twelve hours.

Here's a few of my favorite moments. They were all this strange.

Unfortunately, the Puritans at YouTube would only let us air this one on our brand channel.

Despite a limited online media budget, our digital campaign for Carl's Jr. Grilled Chicken Salads needed to increase Facebook fans and sell an ass-ton of salads.

Using the star of the brand's accompanying TV spot, Kim Kardashian, we offered fans an exclusive experience to eat lunch and chat with Kim directly on our Facebook page.

The campaign relied heavily on social media and PR outreach, leveraging Kim’s substantial Facebook and Twitter followings to generate a bunch of buzz. It ended up earning over $250 MM unpaid media impressions and driving significant increases in salad sales. ADVERTISING!

To give fans a chance to interact with a virtual Kim before the lunch, we created this augmented reality invite experience.

We had a half hour with Kim to shoot our augmented reality chat invites. This video was pieced together from the outtakes.

In general, people aren’t stupid. When it comes to sunbathing, people are stupid.
