The more you read to your child, the more she grows both academically and socially. So we created a campaign to raise parental awareness and funds for ReadToThem.org by asking people not to donate money for books to disadvantaged families—but to donate words to childrens' brains.

To do this, we calculated the average cost of a single word in a child's book (the average number of words in a book divided by the average cost of a book) and created a site where people could donate a tangible number of words.

Our newspaper ads were crafted from the first 6,000 words of three classic children's books—Peter Pan, Little Women and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, respectively.

Whenever a new product came out at Carl's Jr./Hardee's, they asked me to write an email blast for it. I wrote tens of hundreds of headlines during my tenure.

Here are a few that made it through.

In production. Coming soon.

The Client
Video Volunteers trains everyday citizens in the poorest parts of the world to be video journalists.

The Problem
The organization needs donations to fund cameras and journalists. But first they need awareness.

The Solution
We created the Video Volunteers NewsFeed Network, the first global media network comprised of Facebook newsfeeds. Donors can syndicate their newsfeeds by automatically broadcasting journalists' videos—essentially turning them into badly-needed media channels. Donors can also calculate the monetary value of the media they’re donating based on their number of friends and frequency of posts.

It's a new type of charity for a new type of world.

After a long, tense NBA lockout, MSG Network wanted to welcome the Knicks and their fans back. We decided to celebrate the undeniable love affair between New York and basketball.

To promote MSG Network's coverage of the Knicks, Rangers, Islanders and Devils in the Tri-State area, we used analogies only Tri-State area residents could appreciate.

This was an idea I was lucky enough to inherit, help flesh out and put finishing touches on.

To catch overworked financial professionals when they should be out partying, we ran banner ads on finance sites after 10 PM. The banners had a personalized message for the reader based on the time and article they were reading—urging them to get offline, find balance, and find Ultimat Vodka.

This was a freelance side project I did in 2010. The brief was simple: How can Coke give people the tools and inspiration for spreading happiness around the globe?

The idea was to reward people for returning the simplest, most universal sign of happiness: a smile.

Because it was only freelance, unfortunately I wasn't there to produce the idea or choose this film's awesome song.

Seriously. Mute it.

For Activision’s Kinect video game based on the ABC primetime show, we cast a former Wipeout contestant named Joel to tell his traumatic story.

We then gave him another shot at the $50,000 by competing against regular people who bought the game, with the final match playing out on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Joel ended up winning the 50k. And we ended up selling nearly half a million copies.

To promote light, cushy K-SWISS Lady Tubes, we teamed up scariest trainer alive, Jillian Michaels, with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson in "The Killer Body Beatdown"—10 days of content inspiring women to get off their computer chairs, get Tubes and get training. In that order.

Cutdowns of these films ran as :30 and :15 spots.

KWFC? is a salty-languaged project where I discuss how insane the most prosaic things in culture and life really are. It's part-analysis, part-philosophy, part-entertainment (analphilotainment).

Since its launch, it's been featured on HuffPo Comedy, Dooby Brain and The Daily What, was Dazed Digital's Tumblr of the Week, a Sick Chirpse Best New Tumblr Find, and was one of Digiday's Best Agency Creatives' Tumblrs. It's gotten over 175,000 unique visitors and over 4,500 Tumblr followers.

And for the first time in my life, I've received fan mail.

Which is pretty f#%*ing crazy.

The Wheel of Awesome is the centerpiece of the Carl's Jr./Hardee's Facebook communities and the Happy Star Rewards Mobile app. It was designed to be an entertaining experience to perpetuate ongoing participation and loyalty amongst our fans, as well as be an incentive for community growth.

Loosely translated, that means it's super cool and addictive.

In 9 months, we grew fans for the brands from a combined 100,000 to 1.1 million, and Carl's Jr./Hardee's were rated amongst the top five most explosive Facebook sites in 2010.

Do your brain a favor and click here to see it in the flesh.
